Chase has always been pretty reasonable most of the time - but, I guess it depends on which csr you get and whether or not they got up on the wrong side of the bed today.
Call them, apologize for the misunderstanding and tell them how you'd like to settle this so you can get your account back in good standing.
If you get rebuffed, try again. Eventually, you'll get an understanding csr.
