Data point: EXP FICO Score 8 went up 27 points around 4 years, reduced effect of late payment?

I checked my Experian score today, and it went up 27 points, from 734 to 761, today. This would be around 4 years, 2 months from the most recent late payment. Utilization was below 1% across all cards, with small balances on several and had been for months/years. 6+ revolving accounts, most recent account 3 months ago, two inquiries in the last year. An authorized user card started showing on the credit report around the same time as this change, but would not have affected the total utilization percentage even if considered in their calculations (I do not think that it is). AAoA 1 year 9 months, AoOA 5 years, 3 months.

I cannot think of what would cause such a substantial jump if not some effect from the late payments aging at about 4 years (one 30-day late payment and one 60-day late payment on a low-balance credit building account).

Yeah, that is a big jump. Congratulations.

It does feel to me that your instinct, about the lates losing impact, is probably right.

I just had my Experian report a 27 point score increase today as well.

One reason was that my paid off account that reported late up to 90 days just aged off. The late happened back in 2019. I have also been keeping my utilization at 1 % on 3 of my 15 cards with available 15k to 30k credit limits.
