Diffrent scores

New to the Forum so if this has been asked my apologies.

I have been trying to rebuild my credit and now  I need a new fridge from Home Depot or Lowes and lawn tractor from cub cadet. I can pay cash for one but not both. I want to apply for Credit and donot want to ding my rating fro nothing just to be turned down

Why do I see different numbers on my scores? Which one is correct?

Discover 684

Credit Sesame 734

turbo / Intuit 737

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks

Re: Diffrent scores

The discover is a FICO score and the other two are Vantage 3.0 scores. Both use different scoring algorithms and weigh things differently resulting if different scores if you want your FICO scores the ones lenders use you will have to purchase them from a credit monitoring service. I suggest Credit Check Totals. Its $1 for the 7 day trial and you can cancel before the trial ends so you dont get charged the monthly subscription fee.

Re: Diffrent scores

Welcome, @Anonymous. Smiley Happy

Do you have any cards right now? If so, what are they, and when were they opened? Knowing this information will help us to give you better guidance.

Without further information, my recommendation would be to charge the fridge and pay cash for the mower. My fear is that the mower people might offer you a consumer finance loan, and those ding your score. Charging the fridge on a Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, or Discover would be preferable. But the Home Depot or Lowe's cards would be fine too.

Re: Diffrent scores

I have zero cards right now. In addition the scores on Myfico are

equifax 711

transunion 700

experian 684

the mower I would try to finance through Cubcadet it’s like a card through TD Bank

Re: Diffrent scores

@AnonymousI can pay cash for one but not both.

It's a very bad habit to get into making CC purchases for anything that you wouldn't/couldn't pay for in cash today.

My advice here would be to acquire only one of the two items you're in need of currently; get the one you need "more" and get the other one down the road.  If it's a situation where you need both, meaning your current 2 items are completely non-functional that you're looking to replace, I'd buy one brand new and score the other (temporary) used on Craigslist or something to get you by until you have the cash on hand to acquire a new version of the other item.  You can score a used fridge for $50-$75 or a riding mower for $100-$150 to get you by and probably recoop exactly what you paid for it once you're able to buy the piece that you really want.
