Discover FICO vs TU FICO

Hello Everyone!

I know there are a good number of scoring models, however I was hoping to get some opinions on some score differences that I am seeing.

For two statements in a row now, my Discover FICO score (showing on their statement) is 703.  If I am not mistaken, they pull that number from TU.  My TU score through MyFIco has been holding at 680.  Would I be corrt in assuming that they could both still be accurate TU numbers, but using different scoring models?  If so, any idea which number most lenders would likely see - the 703 or the 680?

Thanks so much!

Year 2012: All Scores in the 520 range, during a foreclosure, CC Settlement and high UTIL. Very ugly days...

Yes they are both FICO scores, but different score models.   The myFICO score is the older FICO98 model, whereas the Discover score is FICO08, possibly bankcard enhanced version.

Different scoring models.

I'd prefer the later one (TU 08 from Discover) over the TU 98 one.

Mortgage lenders use TU04. They will be different score from your discover and myfico.com

Re: Discover FICO vs TU FICO

Thanks!

Does anyone know of a service that provides us with a TU04 score or is that one pretty much out of our hands?

Does anone know if the TU04 score that a lot of mortgage comanies use is typically closest to the score of FICO98 or FICO08?

I won't be applying for a mortgage for at least a couple of years, but good to know.

Thanks again!

You can get your EQ 04 score direct from Equifax.

I don't know of any source for TU 04.

I don't know if TU 04 is closer to TU 98 or TU 08.  I expect the answer varies widely, given different weights applied to various factors..

If you have TU 08 available, I'd use that for tracking, and when you get closer to a mortgage, you can start picking up the EQ 04.

It's always a good idea to be educated enough about scoring that there are no surprise developments awaiting you.

Re: Discover FICO vs TU FICO

If you have TU 08 available, I'd use that for tracking,

By the way. I beleive I do have access to TU 08 through Discover.  That is what they use, isn't it?  At the moment, they are showing I have a 703, whereas the scores I pull from MyFico are a bit lower, as you can see in my sig line.   Thanks again!

Re: Discover FICO vs TU FICO

If it's a matter of relying on TU 08 (Discover) instead of TU 98, I'd certainly do so.

I believe the Discover score might be the bankcard enhanced FICO score...something to keep in mind.
