Distribution chart of FICO scores

A table of FICO Credit score and Percent with Score, e.g. 800-850 13%, 750-799 27% etc, is well-known, but is there a table (a snapshot at some given time) which replaces the 50 point range with percentages (with one or two decimals) for each single point (or close to it, like 5 points)?

Not to my knowledge.  The source of such info would be Fair Isaac.  You could write them  a  letter, and ask if they can provide such a detailed breakdown.

Re: Distribution chart of FICO scores

On a related note, it would appear that the percentage top, at about 770 on the FICO scale, of the much slanted bell curve as such is only 80 points from the perfect 850. That 770 is higher than the median score of about 720, which is higher than the average of about 680, which is higher than 575, the average of 300 and 850.

I take it the density of people at around 770, 27% in the 750-799 range, is not due to the FICO scoring system itself, but rather factors in society such as to which extent loans are approved at a given time and how far people are able to get towards their score goals?

Re: Distribution chart of FICO scores

You are, I would guess from your analysis,. an engineer!  LOL  So am I!

Well, you know that any curve can be linear, exponential, or algorithmic.  Point changes of, lets say, 20 pts on the high end are not necessarily the same as the same 20-pt difference on the the middle or lower ends of the scoring barometer.

Any FICO scoring algorithm is approved by a PhD manager at Fair Isaac,  who knows credit risk analysis inside and out.
Each area of scoring can have its own criteria,.  Not necessarily uniform.  Credit scoring is not regulated under the FCRA, so this whole discussion dissolves to hypothesis.

FICO scoring is a proprrietary  trade secret, so specualtion is just that.,

Analysis of FICO score distributions is not possible without knowing the algorithm for that distribution.  That wont happen.

Re: Distribution chart of FICO scores

Some FAKOs come with enough info to build a distribution for their scores, for example I have the following data points for the Experian Triple Advantage scores:

Score 742    percentile:  59.77

Score 764    percentile   76.73

Get enough of these and you can make a good chart. How close that would be to FICO I don't know.

Funny you should suggest that. My DBS (dearly beloved spouse) and I went to see a movie yesterday. As we pulled into the theatre's parking lot, I noticed this little sign indicating 100 to the right and 200 FICO straight ahead.

So instead of turning left towards the theatre, we drove straight and stopped at this of two corporate twin buildings. Walked up to the main entrance and sure enough there was a big FICO sign inside above the entrance hall.

It's a small world.

Yes, that's how I got going with this thing. You have the 13% 27% etc chart, the median and average scores too, after which you add a few of your own Score Watch "better than" percentages, and before you know it, a pattern forms.

Maaayybe haha (Robin Williams too lives in the area.)

There must be a moderator of this forum, who can direct me to such a person. I don't often go to a movie during business hours ;-)

Re: Distribution chart of FICO scores

my-own-fico, I must say that your last post still has me rolling on the floor!

I have NO idea of the point you were trying to make, but I must admit that  it was amusing, if not elucidating!

If you want any authoritative feedback on FICO scoring, it must come  from the master scorer.  Mr Fair Isaac.

We, on this site, can oinly give humble, peasant experiences and feedback.
