Re: Effect of derog on score - all else equal

Re: bill
It was a credit card.

And my hope was to hammer home to me the effect of a baddie like that.
I shudder at what the ORIGINAL cost to my score was when first reported!
BrutalBodyShots opinion is about 70-80; and this is 5 plus years into it!

Re: Effect of derog on score - all else equal

I have 6yo 30 day late that is reporting to two bureaus but not to TU. Otherwise my reports are very similar. My score has varied from around 10 points higher on TU to around 30. I'm not sure how a collection that old compares to a 30 day late.

Scores: March 21 FICO 8: EX 810, TU 808, EQ 813
AoOA: closed: 40 years, open: 30 years; AAoA: 14 years
Amex Gold, Amex Blue, Amex ED, Amex Delta Blue, Amex Hilton Surpass, BoA Platinum Plus, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Amazon, Chase CSP, Chase United Explorer, Citi AA, Sync Lowes, total CL 203k

Probably 110-120 points, give or take.  The 70-80 points would be the case until it falls off, so those points even at 6 years 11 months of age (or until it drops off) would still be lost.

70-80 points for the collection, 35-40 points for the aged lone 30 day late.  Basically about half the impact from the minor verses the major in most cases.

Had 1 and only removed....gained 60-80 points across all 3 and it was closed from 2013 and not counted in my utilization.

Just from the status changing to paid it increased the scores from 16-48 points across the 3.  It was magically removed and then scores really shot up.

Thank you all for the responses.

FicoGuy's response is encouraging and I will look into some more. I'm at 680 give or take - and will be thankful for +16 boost if paid (I understand profiles are unique, but the score *should* go up, right?)

I had no idea when the status went to paid, it would increase my score.  It was definitely a shock and then when it was removed I almost passed out.
