Email Received: You No Longer Have a FICO Score

I received the above announcement that I have no FICO score today from Experian. I have had a credit history since 1987 and my longest CC account was started in 1989.

Due to COVID long-term unemployment, I had to declare Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December 2020. I didn't declare bankruptcy on all accounts since when I filed some had zero balance. (Regardless of that those accounts were also closed.)

Since then, I haven't used credit since I didn't have any and thought I could not get any yet because of the bankruptcy.

Up until today I had a poor FICO score, but at least I had one.

Where do I go from here? The advice from Experian is confusing in that it appears to give me advice as if I were a newbie with no credit history at all.

How do I get my credit history back? Or will I never get any of it back for FICO and I have to start from scratch?

Does this also mean FICO will no longer report my Chapter 7 if I have to start all over?

Thank you for any help you can give.

That's interesting.

I know that if you have not used credit it over 10 years, your old accounts would have dropped off leaving you with no real credit file.

However, a 2 yr old BK should still be on your file, and thus you should still have a file.

Are all of your scores/files gone, or just EXP?

No, that's not what it means, having a report and having a score aren't synonyms

BK is considered a public record and as such,  it's not considered "an account".

BK did not go anywhere, it's staying for 10 years.

The reason you "have no score" is because you do not have a single open, active account for the past 6 months.

The moment you have an active account, score will be generated (for new files it would be 6 months, but that's not the case for you)

Any lender who attempts to pull your report will see closed accounts, BK,and accounts included in BK.

Your "potential" score is very low, and the only thing that's stopping it from being as low as it can get are old accounts that are still contributing to aging metrics.

So, open an account

you mentioned score, but have you checked to see if anything is showing up on your credit report?
