Anybody read of these mathematicians that had ostensibly reverse engineered various credit scoring agencies' methods and systems, by what was being divulged through various sorts of reports?

Obviously, many have tried to reverse-engineer the FICO scoring model, but I am unaware of any such successes.
Why should they? They could make more money seliing their own version as a FAKO score and with some good TV commericals to suck people in.
For the very same reason that, once a patent expires, others make and sell generic drugs. A competitive version of the same product.
