FICO score disparity

My FICO score issued to me by FICO is about 50 points higher than from the same source issued and reported to me by a bank where I applied for a loan. Can anyone explain this?

Re: FICO score disparity

Hi, creditmole, welcome to the forums!

You have three FICO scores, based on your reports from the three CRA's (credit bureaus): Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. Each CRA commissions its own formula from FICO, and each formula rewards and punishes items on your credit reports a bit differently, so scores are generally different. If you pulled your EQ FICO here, and your bank pulled your TU FICO or EX FICO, that could be it.

Not only are the formulas different, but the reports themselves can be different. Some people have some accounts on one or two reports, but not all three, so that changes the scoring. Also, some reports might shown an account with incorrect info, like it might show a 90 day late on one, and just 30 day lates on the others.

And finally, just to confuse things further, the CRA's commission new formulas periodically, so there are older and newer formulas (and scores) floating around.
