Fico Score Question

So, I really hate asking this question but I can't help it. I'm on a time crunch to get my score above 620, and right now I am at 611. Here is the scoop. All my tradelines are paid except one. Last month, my Dell balance was at 1700, I paid $330, to get it below 1500 including when they charge me finance charges so it won't go above 1500. My credit limit was 3000. After the new balance was reported to the CRA's, my score went from 589 to 611. So I am hoping that by taking these next steps, I will have gained 9 points with the rapid rescore that my LO is doing: I paid another 500 to get the balance to 997.00 and Dell increased my credit limit to $4000. Do you think my chances are good, that my score will increase 9 points? Thank you.

Re: Fico Score Question

Good shot.  That will put you under 10% util, provided both the CL and the new balance report within the period you need.

Re: Fico Score Question

My math says 25% util. Still, I think that you have a good shot at those 9 pts., OP.

Re: Fico Score Question

Yes, Just with his Dell account, he is now at 25% util instead of 50% util last month. Overall, with all his credit lines included, he is under 10%. Still waiting on the Rapid rescore. Our LO said that the company she uses only takes 3-5 business days. Today was the 3rd day, so hopefully we will hear something by Tuesday. fingers crossed!

Re: Fico Score Question

I am so mad!!! Found out today that the rapid rescore did not work...Score didn't change one point. How is that possible. My credit line went from $3000 to $4000, and I paid my balance from 1497 to 997. That's 25% util. I have not other balances on any cards...This just blows my mind. Is it even worth paying another $300 to get it below 19% util and having another rapid rescore done???

Sorry just had to vent...

Re: Fico Score Question

Just a thought...did Dell have your new limit reported?  I'm not sure how those rapid rescores work, but that was the first thing that popped in my head.

Re: Fico Score Question

Yes, they reported the new balance and the new credit line. I even received a confirmation mailing from Equifax that they have updated the changes. When my LO spoke to the manager at one of the credit services he said that it didn't affect our score because its only a charge card not a revolving card. And then the manager told her that I should remove myself as an authorized user from my DW's capitol one because it has 2 60 lates on it. Only problem is, If I removed myself, I would lose 2 years of of my AAoA because this is both of ours longest account at 7 years.
