My chapter 7 bankruptcy was discharged in January (YAY!) and I'm just now starting to try to rebuild my credit. I found a great guide on here and the first step was to pull a credit report and make sure everything was reporting correctly and showed as it should. I already used the free annual one for the year so I figured the next best thing was to spend the $60 and go with the Fico Score 3-Report View.
On it I found a few things showing as late reported in January of this year by Experian. Sooooo.. I make my way to Experian to dispute and once there, I don't see anything reported by Experian past October (when I filed the bankruptcy). What the heck!?!?! I called myFICO and they told me they get ALL the info for the 3 report from each of the 3 buroughs and to contact Experian. One hour on the phone with Experian and they tell me they show NOTHING from any of the lenders reported past October, only that in January they report them all as discharged and closed.
I called myFICO and they claim repeatedly that Experian must be sending that info to them regardless of how many times I'm telling them Experian says they show NOTHING past October 2013 reported by any of the lenders in question.
I'm SO SO SO frusturated! Waiting on a call from a managers manager blah blah blah from myFICO now, but any ideas as to why this could be? I didn't expect to need to start the dispute RIGHT HERE with myFICO for sure!!! Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
If you have your credit report number from Experien and it has been less than 90 days since you pulled the report, you can get an updated report by reviewing your previous report. Experien will update ALL of the information each time you review your online report. In effect, you will be able to review your current Experien report whenever you like as long as you review it every 90 days.
If your current Experien report does not show it, then it is not there.
Maybe someone else can chime in on the difference between what you are pulling from Experien vs myfico. But creditors will only pull from Experien directly.
I appreciate your reply! Thank you.
Experian is showing correctly, myFICO is not.
The 3 score report from myFICO shows about 6 late payments that Experian doesn't show and I am concerned that myFICO risk score is being affected negatively.
Maybe I should just be happy the negative marks don't go past my chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge date BUT it still feels frusturating to not be getting any straight answers.
From what I understood (from my attorney) lenders can't report something as late past the date you file bankruptcy, but being that up until I filed bankruptcy I had a GREAT credit score and never was late those little negative marks are bothering me to no end!
That's strange: that said, what's on the report you pulled from Experian counts and nothing else does. Could be somethings are getting munged on the parsing which myFICO does to generate the report: end of the day the data you get from any third party is not reference, whereas the bureaus are.
Fair enough. Thanks for the input!
