Starting Score: 469There seems to be some shock in here that you can dispute with the original creditor.
You sure can. I just did with Chase. I first went the CRA route and all I received was mimicking.
So I disputed directly with Chase. It took a GC and a follow up fax, but the deleted the tradeline from all 3 bureaus and the dispute never went thru the CRA. If you ask me, that's the preferred way to do it.

Why did you dispute?
Greetings Naturell,
I know this is a very old post, just wanted to find out if you had any luck having Citi reverse the incorrectly disputed mark on you credit report?
Here is what my situation is, posted in a few replies for some wisdom:
Hi all,
Similar situation with a GW I sent to Citicards, just got a latter back stating "The account has been reported as disputed to the credit bureaus" even if I stated multiple times that the letter was looking for a "goodwill" adjustment. Has anyone had any luck with reversing the disputed status? It was only for one 60 day late in 2005, so hopefully the dispute does not affect my score that much. Trying to get as much of a boost I can get by GW'ing what I can. Anyone had a BIG score drop because of an incorrectly disputed late?
