I don't have a score at present with TU or EX. A couple of lenders whom I thought would pull EQ wound up pulling these bureaus for various CC and loan apps. I was wondering if once I do start getting a score (my Cap One should start reporting soon), will those HPs be deducted retroactively? Or do they just disappear into the ether if you don't have a score at the time of the HP?

I feel reasonably sure that the absence of a score doesn't mean they didn't pull your credit report. So I'm guessing that the HP's will show up.
@SouthJamaica I know they pulled my credit report because I can see the inquiries in the narrative section of the report. But since I had no score, there were no point deductions for the pulls.
What I'm asking is once I have a score, will those hard pulls show up as POINTS retroactively deducted from my score?

the score is calculated based on the information on the report, therefore the inquries on the report will count against the score when you're able to see the score
it's not like the score counts things only after the score existed, the score is based on everything on the report, including the 6 months prior to having a score
so if you have files and those files have those inquries on them, they will count towards the fico scores when you finally get to see your fico scores
I wouldn't worry about though, if it takes a bunch of inquries to find 2-3 cards you want to start building your profile it doesn't really matter, the inquries will age off before you're able to do much of anything with credit anyway

Agreed.

The hard pulls will show up and factor into your credit score, but saying they're "deducted retroactively" isn't quite right, either. When someone pulls your credit score, the score is calculated at that moment. It's based on everything that's in your credit profile, at that instant in time. It's not something where they add or subtract points based on changes. It's recalculated entirely from scratch.
To share a specific DP, I was an empty file just over two years ago. My first card was from Cap1, as well. Those hard pulls just aged off my profile, last month. Though I will say that I only ended up with 2 hard pulls, not Cap1's notorious 3. I'd have to double check, but it may be that the third hard pull was on the bureau that couldn't even associate my SSN with my name.
