What is a GW letter and how do I go about that? I've heard of being able to pay to have the collections deleted also
From everything I've read, it's my understanding that a dispute will likely do nothing. The only thing required is an update of the correct status. Baddies stay on your report if you pay them in full or never at all. Paying a debt can get them removed if the OC or CA agrees to a PFD before payment or by trying a GW letter after.
A GW letter may get them removed since you've already paid. It's the debt owner(s) right to keep the account reporting. Nothing in the law requires it to be removed because of payment.
If the GW attempt isn't successful, search HIPPA process on the web... "There was 4 medical bills", it's possible to have medicals removed via HIPPA. We're not allowed to talk specifics about HIPPA on myFICO boards.
Paying still looks better to future creditors than not at all but it isn't grounds for a removal.
