When I call the listed numbers I get into a circle chain without result. I've tried every reply but they all go no where. So how do we contact creadit bureaus?
Mail is the easiest what are you trying to do dispute once again snail mail. Yes they do have contact #''s but they don't make it very easy to get a representative depending on what you are trying to do but can find the #'s on here and other sites and eventually you will fiure out how to get a live person on the line.
Nothing changed as per me, but my credit score dropped 17 points so the advice I got on here was check with credit bureau to make sure you haven't been hacked and.............
I think I would know if I'd been hacked. I have a lot of financial **bleep** and every one of them wants to help me. Used to be you had a hard time finding your credit score and now you see it everywhere because of these self-appointed helpers. I blocked most of those emails but I take it for granted that AMEX (left them hot) would let me know.
But I still need to find out the bureau's reasong for lowering my score. The biggest chance on finding the culprit is a wrong entry, to much automated action/reaction out there.
They are not going to tell you why your score went down they don't know .
But wouldn't they be able to tell me last few entries?
You stated you have access to your reports , go through them thoroughly something triggered a change possibly, but no they can't tell you why your score went down they get thousands of call a day
The phone reps also aren't going to have any knowledge of the proprietary scoring algo's. If you want to share the details of your report before and after the score change, as well as the bureau, model, and source of the two scores, we can help you look for the reason for the change.
I feel like I should also add that 17 points is not a large change, esp if you're looking at a VantageScore, so, if everything you see on your CRs is correct, then I wouldn't get too wrapped up about it.

What are the best phone numbers for contacting credit bureaus. Perhaps an email would be better? Don't know an email nor phone number and it's frustrating.

Each of the major CRAs is geared toward having a consumer create an online account and logging in to get assistance online but they do support calling in for help although that option is not available 24x7. Look on each website under customer support or consumer support to get their current phone number but if you want to call Experian you have to drill down on the website based upon why you want to contact them (dispute vs fraud alert vs placing a security freeze etc.) to get the correct phone number.
If you choose to call expect a lengthy hold waiting to speak to a real person, they really want to be contacted either online or via US Mail.
