On the installment side of the equation you get more points for an open mortgage. closed mortgage still on the reports is worth a few points too. I lost 10 points a few years ago when mine dropped off the reports. An open car loan helps a bit with credit mix once paid not at all. I have heard a few say the maximum point gain for a car loan is seen at the 36 month point. A lot depends upon your individual file. A personal loan will probably not help and will likely hurt.

ok. i really dont need the loan so im not gonna apply for it.how about one more cc with a higher limit.my highest  cc is only $4000 with chase and a bunch of $500 to $1400 cc.i believe that if  i can get a really good high end cc with a high limit i will be set for a long while.what do you think?
