I could just kick myself!!! :/

So..... I paid off all my credit cards and each have reported a zero balance. TU score dropped 18 points to 700; EQ dropped 13 pts to 673 and EX dropped 23 pts to 673!! *sigh* (I actually had to sit down when I received the alert -just mind blowning) I was hoping to raise my score and it ended up doing the complete opposite. I do not know what I was thinking. Thankfully I have one CapOne card that is about to report  a small balance of $15 in the next couple of days, so hopefully that will help regain SOME of the points I lost. Can someone please come punch me in the face?? LOL this is a true lesson learned. This obsession I have with my scores is crazy. I need therapy. Smiley LOL

I would guess that something else changed in your CR with that CRA other than only the reduction to balances down to $0 on all cards.

Are you SURE that nothing else changed?

Re: I could just kick myself!!! :/

No, I had 2 collections removed last week and my TU score jumped 32 pts; EQ jumped 14pts and EX jumped 27 pts. The 'hurting' cedit factors given by Credit Check Total was "Your credit report shows no recent balances on your revolving accounts . Your FICO® Score was hurt because you are not currently demonstrating active revolving credit management." My AAoA has not changed... still shows 4yrs.... so I don't know. [shrugs]

Re: I could just kick myself!!! :/

Same for me.  However it should be short lived as my third card will report a 5% balance for the first time later this week (2nd statement). I've waited  this long....what's another couple of weeks.   My other 2 cards reported $0 and had a score drop.

 This is what CCT says:

No credit card activity

There is no recent activity on your credit cards.
Your credit report shows no open credit cards or it does not report recent information (such as balance or credit limit) about any of your credit cards. Your FICO® Score evaluates your mix of credit cards, installment loans, and mortgages. People who demonstrate responsible use of different types of credit are generally less risky to lenders.

Re: I could just kick myself!!! :/

It just sucks. I am in the house buying process (about to be submitted to the underwriter) I realllllly don't need a drop in scoring right now. I wanted to pass out when I saw the downward spiral. Ugh! I am hoping to gain those pts back fairly quickly. I now know that a small balance has to be reported. good luck to you!

That's what I've been seeing here. More than half of your accounts at zero, one at under 30% or under 10%, depending on who you follow. I'm modeling my next reporting cycle after that, and hoping for a bump.

Re: I could just kick myself!!! :/

The real takeaway, though, is unless you've done something catastrophic that will damage you in the long term, there's no need to kick yourself. You hit a temporary lull due to some quirks in the illogical system. You'll get over it, and the bump will be that much sweeter.

I hope so. I have worked so hard in the last 8 mths. I am just not used to seeing it decline so much at once. Yes, I will get over it and cannot wait until my points are restored. Thanks for the words of comfort. Smiley Happy

Re: I could just kick myself!!! :/

Ahhhh life is good... I let my balances report, get the alert on my phone when the bill is due, pull down and pay.  My spend looks pretty good and I even carry a balance now and then when needed, without stress.  :]

But i remember micromanaging my utilization, eeeek. I couldn't sleep at night worrying about it sometimes... crazy.

Re: I could just kick myself!!! :/

I wouldn't worry about it. The scores you reported are all in the same range. I highly doubt it will have any adverse effect on your interest rate, or whether or not you qualify for the mortgage...

You said you paid off your cards. If you carried a balance on those accounts, I would gladly trade 20 points to not be paying a CCC high interest. Just my .02.
