A couple times in the last few months, my alerts say (incorrectly) that my credit limit has increased. No credit limit changes have actually occurred on my cards). A few days later, I get another alert saying that I have an credit limit *decrease*, the numbers go back to normal, but my score goes down a few points! What the hell, FICO?
Has this happened to anyone else? I can't Make a complaint common because the increase/decrease isn't attributed to any one card, just generally to my (Transunion) totals.
Do you have a Fingerhut account? Those turds increase your limit and then decrease it if you don't buy anything with the most recent increase.
I do have a Fingerhut account, and I got a sizeable credit limit increase soon after signing up with them, and that was noted accordingly and was several months before this weirdness occurred. I just used the account to buy a fairly big item, so I am on top of what my available credit is with them, over the past several weeks, especially, so it wasn't a yoyoing from them. I am assuming it's some glitch with Transunion, (and I wouldn't care, if not for the fact I've been twice penalized for losing credit limit increases that I never had in the first place!)
What are the specific messages each time? TU has a couple of "aggregate" limits that include / exclude items depending. Also, what sort of score change? A couple points is noise. Can you post screen images of the specific message info?
