Is my score normal?

My fico scores are TU 654,  EQ 684 and EX 721

The differ between the scores are about 30 or more points...?? Is this normal?

Re: Is my score normal?

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Where did you get your scores?

Consumers haven't been able to get their own EX (Experian) FICO scores since February 13 of this year, per Experian's decision. Smiley Mad

If you got your EQ and TU scores here, they're FICO scores. The EX score is a FAKO, unless you got it from a mortgage pull, or you belong to PSECU (a credit union), and it came on your monthly statement.

And if you got all three from a credit monitoring service like TrueCredit or CreditSecure or others, they're all three FAKO's. Smiley Sad

If you haven't already, please read Understanding Your FICO ® Score and Credit Scoring 101 (at least the first post.)

These will give you the background knowledge you need to understand what you read here on the forums.

Re: Is my score normal?

Hi and thank you for the quick answer.

The TU and EQ are from fico tat i know for sure because I also have scorewatch.

The EX is from myfreecreditreport.com so im guessing thats a Fako number.

Not sure if that helps

Re: Is my score normal?

It absolutely does help. It explains why your EX "credit score" is so much higher than the others.

With the TU and EQ, you're a bit closer to comparing apples and apples. What's on your TU report that's not on your EQ report (as in baddies.) Or in reverse, what's on your EQ report that's not on TU? (an old account, etc.) Compare the reported balances for each account on both reports. Are your EQ balances lower? TU is often the last CRA to update its reports, so if your displayed balances are higher there, that would make your TU FICO score lower.

It often helps to print out both reports, and then go through them with a yellow highlighter, one account at a time. If there are any differences on the reports, this will make them jump out.

Also, each CRA (credit bureau) contracts for its own unique scoring formula. Lates seem to hurt more with Equifax, TU apparently "wants" to see a mortgage, and so forth. My three young adult kids have identical score reports (each kid has the same reports on all three CRA's, in other words), and yet their FICO scores are different.

But a 30-point difference between TU and EQ argues that there's something going on beyond differing scoring formulas.

Re: Is my score normal?

You are absolutely right.  I did some comparing and TU 654 have 9 inquires,  while my EQ 684 have only 6 inquires.  So i assume that was the reason, but here comes the funny part, of the 9 inquires of the ones on TU, only 2 of them matches my EQ 6 inquires.  So i figure no big deal.  Then i  found one more minor differ on the two report.  TU, which is my lowest score, have me 3 lates ( 30day, 60day, and 90 day, gas company, Thats another story ), EQ have me at 4 lates ( 30 day, 60, 90 and 120 )  which is more accurate.

I find this absolutely funny because it seem like Credit agency seem more forgiving ( to me anyway ) on lates and harsher on inquires.  Either that or TU and EQ measures lates and inquires on a different scale.

Re: Is my score normal?

I have 50 pt difference between TU and EX because there are two collections on one that does not show up on the other.
