Re: It took a while but finally figured out reporting dates....

Hauling- Yes, as far as the clean up. I really dinged myself before knowing about this place. Paid off 6 med collections last November. (They all should fall off sometime this year, but moved them to a new status date-so I think they are factored as new baddies???)-These are all on the EQ.

I PIF'd a defaulted student loan, and had made a settlement on another. I found out the other day that I can get both removed if I rehab the amount not in settlement ($463). Both were from same lender one subsidized the other unsubsidized.

This will take 9 months of payments, and they will remove all accounts from credit report. I asked them to send me that paperwork in writing. That account is listed as "Settled for less than full balance" Amount due zero, but in the terms section says $463.

I will try the account thingy with the math.....love math!

Thanks Cheddar. I think I screwed myself by adding so many tradelines in the past year. The fact that I do pay in full seems to keep me just in the fair credit category.

I will try the simulator, and just sit and pray!

How did you manage to get your scores up--how long did it take?

You're welcome, although I wish I had a better answer for you.  HTSU hit the nail on the head in her post above (as always!)

I started my rebuilding journey last July.  Scores at the time were high 500s/low 600s, but honestly it didn't take much effort on my part.  A few disputes of inaccurate lates got them removed.  An old auto loan riddled with lates was reporting much longer than it should have, so I disputed that as obsolete, and it was removed as well.  I got on as AU on two of DF's spotless CCs, one from 1998 and one from 2005.  Then I added a few (ha!) new revolving accounts of my own because I had none at all when I started.  Once all that was done I was in the mid- to upper-600s.

After that, my one and only collection aged off, and I got my utilization down to 1% with only two accounts reporting a balance.  Next thing I knew it, I had lower-mid 700s across the board.  It kind of took me by surprise how quickly it all happened!

Time and persistence are all it takes! Smiley Wink  Hang in there!
