Item removed from Credit Report, then added back on. Score hit twice?

Got an account from a few years back that went bad. Went to collections, hit my credit report, hit my score. I took it as it is, rebounded back, and in the process of cleaning my report and my credit score has improved a hell of a whole lot.

Few days ago, I see that the item was removed from my report, and my score jumped.

Now today, I get an alert. The item was added BACK to my report and my score just got hit again.

So, same account, impacted my score twice.

I understand about paying it, but how do I address the item impacting my score two times?

Note: I live in Louisiana if that matters

Was it added back to the same Bureau I ask this because if you paid on it sometimes that provides a flag to other B's and so it will pop up on theirs?!      If it's the same one you can dispute it and send a letter stating you already had it paid and worked out and ask they remove it again as now it would be invalid so you shouldn't have to pay it twice that would be ridiculous.

Well it's not that it hit your score twice, but just that when it was removed you gained the points back that it was keeping from you, and when it was re-added those same points were once again lost. It should theoretically be the same exact number of points lost/gained, assuming nothing else has changed on your report. That said, why did it get removed? Is it older than 7 years? Or did it just randomly fall off? Is it paid or unpaid?

Yes added back to the same bureaus.

It was SYNC/CARECREDIT acct, how as MIDLAND FUNDING.

So, it sounds like the account was sold to Midland?  And now Midland is reporting their own tradeline?  If this is the case, then that's normal reporting activity. Original creditors will sometimes opt to delete their tradeline when a debt is sold or transferred to a collection agency -- and then the collection agency will begin their own reporting.

Good news is Midland will delete a tradeline after payment.  So contact them and set up an arrangement, pay in full, or settle the debt so the item can be removed.   You can look up your account on their website and see if any settlement offers exist, or view payment options: https://www.midlandcredit.com/help-center/credit-reporting/

Yea so from what it sounds like, it's not technically the same item. It's the same account, but as @thornback mentioned, it looks like Sync sold the debt, deleted their TL, and then Midland, the CA, began reporting their own TL.

Re: Item removed from Credit Report, then added back on. Score hit twice?

It did not affect your score twice. As you said you got the points back when it came off. Naturally once it was added back you lose those gained points. On your report lose points, off your report gain points, on your report again lose points. Its the same points.

The points may be a bit more this last time because it is  "new". Thats one of the dangers of the dispute process. Now that it is with a creditor "pay for delete" may be an option. Search that term and/or "PFD"
