So I normally have only really looked at my FICO score (mostly on MyFico) and recently I've been seeing my VantageScore on Chase (which is what they give you in thier "Chase Credit Journey") and I've noticed that the scores have around a 100 point difference.
What gives? I have "good" FICO 8 score of 706 (Experian), but my VantageScore 3.0 (from Experian) is only 619 (was 602 a short while ago). Why such a HUGE difference? Both are coming from the same place (Experian).
It took me quite a while to figure out how to work my credit so I can have/keep a decent FICO score, now I have to worry about this stupid VantageScore too?
How important is that score anyway?

Ignore Vantage, at this stage of the game it is utterly worthless.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!
One matters (FICO), and one doesn't (Vantage).
Fico and VantageScore weigh events differently. VantageScore is more sensitive to credit seeking and high balances. Fico is more widely used with Synchrony being the best known lender to explicitly use VantageScore.

Except that Synchrony uses the Vantage 4.0 algorithm. From what I've seen and experienced myself V4.0 is nowhere as twitchy as V3.0.
If you've been a very active card collector your Vantage 3.0 score can be more than 100 points lower than your FICO 8 scores.

^^ This.
I will add that Synchrony uses VantageScore 4.0 for account management and it tends to be much closer to my actual FICO scores. The gap between VS3 and my F8 is ~80 points. The gap between my VS4 and F8 is ~15 points.

My SOs TU VS4.0 was 584 and TU F8 was 705 last month. At one point they were closer, truly cannot understand why it dipped this past month, but it was 676 > 584 > 666. They still seem to run about 30-50pts +/- of each other.
So, I found VS 4.0 can still be twitchy, not as much or as badly as 3.0, but that was 120 pt gap!
If Synchrony uses Vantage to pull, it will show up on Fico? Will inq also show?
Vantage is good for checking out balances and any new inqs, but yeah those scores lol

Yes, you're conflating credit reports with credit scores. All of your credit related activity is recorded on your reports; from there the credit agencies calculate both your Vantage and your FICO scores.

Mine is the opposite. My Vantage 3 has always been about 100 points higher than my FICOs. My FICO 9 is hiugher than my 8. I have run across some lists of lenders who use Vantage and it is long. I don't count it out.
