Mid 600's to 700 quick?

I'm looking to get a new home so at the beginning of this month I checked my credit score on experion.  690.  A few years ago when I bought a condo I was about 715 so this made me curious.  I found out there is a $84.00 medical bill from 2 1/2 years ago for my son was in my name but was being sent to my ex in another state.  She was just chucking the bill without telling me.  I payed this bill about 2 weeks ago.  Well, I try to pre quilify through my bank the other day and now they say my medium score was "in the mid 600"s".  I spoke with the collection people from the medical bill and they are sending me a letter for the three credit agency's so I can get that whiped off my score.  Also, I have about a $6,000 balance on a credit card with a limit of $11,000.  When I send in that letter and knock that credit card down to about 10% of it's max (all of which can be done in about a week) do you all think I can get that mid 600 score to 700 and how long would it take?  I have no other dings on my credit, no late payments or defaults of any kind.

Well, it can only help.  CA's are murder on the FICO.

High utilization (which you are above 50%) hurts too.

So, while nobody can guarantee what you will get, you will see some sizeable gains, based upon what you disclosed.

If the CA is the only one, it could affect your score anywhere from 20 to 100 points.  I had a single $31 CA (error) that took my 689 to 806 when it was finally removed.

Thanks for the info.  I can get my letter to the three credit agencies and the credit card paid down within a week.  How long do you think it would take for my Credit score to see that bump?
