Bob07, at the heart of your question is one that has puzzled me since I first became involved in reading and interpreting both credit reports and credt scores, and I have yet to receive a clear answer.
The CRAs contain the raw data that is run through the credit algorithms, and FICO (amongst others, and even the CRAs for Vantage scores) povided the software to then churn the CRA data through a scoring algorithm. For simplicity sake, let me limit my discussion only to FICO/FairIsaac scoring algorithms.
OK, CRA data is fixed, and it is churned through the FICO algorithm, and a score is generated.
After that, then someone, somewhere, somehow generates all these comments associated with one's score, pointing out the good things and bad things, suggestions etc.
My question is, where do these comments come from? Many are not applicable, and sometimes outright contradictory. They obviously come from some other program that parrses the CR and/or score, and makes conclusions. Are they produced directly by FairIsaac as part of their scoring package sold to the CRAs, are they generated by the CRAs independently, or are they purchased from the rear of a van parked behind the nearest 7/11?
Until ones knows the source of these comments/suggestions, they should be taken for what they are.
Does anyone know how these are tied to CRs and scores, and by whom?
