You must have an open account reporting for six months for you to have a score. In other words, if you don't have an open account right now, you will have to open one and have it report for six months before you have a FICO score. Likewise, if you close all your accounts and nothing reports for six months, they will stop scoring you.
Is this true for all three CBs? I have recent secured cards reporting from Cap One and a CU, and seem to be getting scores from Eq and TU. Experian, on the other hand, does not even allow me to sign up for creditchecktotal at this time. Experian seems to be the one that takes time, although I've read on here that they start generating scores earlier than 6 months on. I had an application to join SDFCU rejected because Ex couldn't (wouldn't?) verify my identity, which seemed strange as I sent in for my free copy and they sent it to me with my current address listed correctly.
