One week 5 point incrase and 5 point decrease

Has anyone figured out why they sometimes get minor increases and decreases in the same range of time? According to ScorePower FICO report - I use 1% of my credit. I use credit for purchases to for a small amount of flexibility, ie. leaving money in savings while I'm waiting to get paid (I'm self employed). I have $35k in student loans and have the payments set up on auto-payment. (I think I'm pretty fortunate for that amount of debt because I went on to pay cash for my Masters degree abroad!) I just checked everything and all is current. The ONLY thing I can think of for the decrease - is that I just requested and was approved for an American Express card in the United Kingdom because I'm currently working there.

Small changes to your score is pretty normal. One cause could be a higher reported balance on one CC followed up by a decrease on another CC. Having an extra balance report on a CC can cause a score change, followed up with a score increase after another CC reports back to $0. Sometimes, oddly enough, paying all your CCs to $0 and having them report $0, can lead to a drop and then a subsequent increase could be caused by one reporting a balance. There could by any number of things causing minor increases or decreases. You'd have to pull your EQ FICO report frequently to see the before and after change.
