Question about authorized user

Hi,

A friend has applied to a credit card and they asked him for another authorized used. If I join him, will that count as an extra inquiry on my record? And what happens if say he runs into debt or something? Will that affect me too?

Could I just apply with him and delete my name from the account after he gets the card?

Sounds like your friend needs a co signer or joint applicant. Which cc?

If you apply with him as a joint applicant or co signer, it will be an inq and your are both responsible for the account.

Thanks! It is a Discover card which is a bit weird since even though he is completely new to credit, I know other people (including myself) who got it without ever having a credit history whatsoever before.

So I cannot just remove my name after he gets the card (so that he keeps it for himself)?

No, he would need to be able to qualify for it himself before you could be removed.
