We are trying to get a mortgage and have kept track of our FICO for the past year. In December my scores were in the 740 range and my wife's was in the 780 range. We finally found our place and got the contract only to find out my scores had dropped to 660, 666, and 736. My wife is still around the 740 range. I found out that Verizon had turned in a past account as a charge off. When I was finally able to contact someone, she didn't understand why it was listed this way. She changed it and is sending me a letter. The other thing that may be a concern is that we have many credit cards and have about a 33% balance of our possible total credit card limit, which I think is OK. Unfortunately, we only use one card and it has a 90% balance of the limit. I called today and was able to raise the limit to where it is at 50% of the limit. When will this be reported to my credit report? Can I do anything to speed this up? What is a "rapid rescore"? Thanks in advance.
