I just had a CO removed yesterday - it was from 2008 - $7600. I have two pending disputes with EQ- one is doubtful (IC Systems) - the other is very probable because it has already been deleted from TU and EX upon dispute. Other than those (not that it isn't enough) I have a 90 day late on SLM. That is the only listed "Potentially Negative" information reflected on CBA's reports. After my last CA dispute dropped last week, my score went from 639 to 650. Today - nothing happened. :-( Same score - CO dropped. Is my score rebucketing? Length of credit history is 14 years. Can anyone offer input?
Also, I only have one active CC $2100 CL - 70% util. Should I ask for a CL increase which would cause a hard pull with CRA? There has been A LOT of activity on my account with the disputes and drop offs in the last 2 weeks!
Maybe, but I suspect you ran into other limiting factors: namely, other derogs and a 70% utilized card.
Pay down the card if at all possible, then go look into other credit products or CLI's would be my recommendation. That's probably costing you another 30-50 points right there. I would also wait for the disputes to fully resolve on your reports.

No to rebucketing because of other baddies present. You can't get rebucketed with other COs, major lates, or CAs reporting.
If the CO was referencing a "dispute" comment prior to its demise, and you pulled an EQ FICO while it showed under dispute, then you wouldn't see any score change on the baddie alone provided nothing else changed between the pulls. Under a dispute, FICO largely ignores OC accounts. Particularly it'll ignore the payment history, balance, and CL (if a CC). So, it ignored the baddie before the [dispute] and after of course. No change. That's provided it wasn't your oldest and/or negatively impacted your AAoA.
My vote on the CC is to pay it down vs. asking for a CLI. Even if they doubled it, your util will still be high.
I don't have any other CO's. Only thing left would be one CA and a 90 day late student loan. I thought it was categories of "badness." CO's, CA's, late pymts, etc. There was nothing on the deleted CO. I did not dispute. It was a GW. Very nice act of kindness indeed.

I wondered if the disputes had something to do with it. :-( I am gonna keep my fingers crossed that all goes well this week.
