Running frequent credit-checks through myFICO take "dings" off your general FICO scores?

I'm debating wtih a friend whether doing frequent or just monthly checks on my credits scores with Transunion and Experian (via myFICO) will make one to three point dings on my general FICO scoring?

Are the myFICO checks viewed as a "credit pull" as if made from a credit-card company or car-dealership and the like?

Checking your own credit report or score has absolutely no effect on your credit score.  They are soft inquiries, as opposed to hard inquiries from the credit card companies, mortgage lenders, auto finance companies, etc.
