Re: Score decreased with balance decrease

I would say stop focusing so much on the balances. Some times this is what you think caused the change and you are a long way from what actually caused it. you have a baddie that fell off? i could be from rebucketing. who really knows. The reason i say this. I have balances that have increased and my score on transunion just took a 9 point increase. The only i can think of that did this is my AAoA went from 11 months to 1 year. But i don't really know. Maybe i overlooked it if i did not see the total number of cards you have. I know you said 2 had a balance. But for best results you only need 1 to have a balance. but honestly after my last baddie fell off. i have several with balances and my score still refuses to drop below a certain level like i thought it would. let us know when you find the true culprit for the score drop. hard to say.keep in mind it is normal to change up to 20 points each month. without doing anything different. This is why fico is so weird to say the least.

Re: Score decreased with balance decrease

TU was slow to report my Cap1 account being paid off. That statement closed on the 7th so I gave it a few days then pulled the reports. EQ and EX showed that account at zero while TU was still reporting a balance. That was the 720. I noticed Credit Karma (TU) reporting the account at zero on Saturday so I checked the score again. That's when I found that I lost 4 points. It's not really a big deal. I just thought it would go up by a few or at least stay the same.

I think I'm going to get the balance on the second card up to $694.00 again to see if that changes anything. I'm just courious.

My sweet spot for scores might be with a higher balance/higher utilization. That is something else that I'll try later.

EQ - 702 / TU - 679 / EX - 689

Capital One Savor - $17000 / Capital One Venture - $13000 / Travel Advantage Visa - $13000 /Bread Rewards AMEX - $8450 / TD Cash Card - $7500 / Apple Card - $6500 / TD Double Up - $5500 / Mercury - $5000 / Ally Master Card - $4300 / DCU Visa - $3000 / Capital One QuickSilver - $600

Last week I posted that my TU score saw a 40 point increase after my last IIB account received an EE. That was with 2 cards reporting. One (Cap 1) had a $694.00 balance and the other was $112.00. I thought I might see a couple more points after Cap 1 reported a zero balance. Checked my score today and was surprised to see that it went down to 716. I think I'm going to have to play with this. Did the score like having 2 cards reporting or did it like the higher overall balance?  I guess I'll have to try it both ways.

An update to what I posted above last month. I like my Cap 1 report $694.00 again and Walmart reported a balance of $112.00. I got my 4 points back!  So many there is a sweet spot and we can lose points if balances drop below that.  The next thing that I can try is letting one card report $806.00 instead of having that amount bewteen two cards.
