Scoring nightmare..what's going on?????

My low score (EQ) was a 661 on 7/15 I had 4 collections deleted and a tax lien removed(was not mine to begin with). I also had a good acct. cc with perfect payment history for the past 2 years factored in (they had not included this for the last several months).I have not had a late payment in 6 years. No new baddies. I have 3 open solid accts. My score went up 1 lousy point to a 662 in 9/08. What's going on????????? My average age of accts. and oldest acct. did not change. My debt went from 10,600 to 650. My lates went from 22 to 7. So why no increase in score. I need my score to adjust quickly to qualify for a mortgage. EX700 EQ662 TU663

Welcome to the FICO Twilight Zone where common sense is not common. I have been told but yet to experience that the CA's are quick to lower but slow to raise credit scores. If you get a ding, they hit you within a week but if you do something that really helps your score it takes 40-60-90 days to effect your FICO score.

Re: Scoring nightmare..what's going on?????

The stress is killing me......I called FICO and asked them what was going on and they finally (after 2 weeks and many unreturned calls then waiting on hold for 45 mins.)said well my positive pts. were offset my my average age of accts. history changing.I let them know this stayed exactly the same 9 years 1 month. So now they are examining it again. Does anyone know what is going on here???????

Are there any collections still showing? Getting rid of the last collection is what will generate a rise.

Re: Scoring nightmare..what's going on?????

Yes,there are 2 old ones (6 years) still there, but they were already there to begin with ;so shouldn't I see any improvement at all by having a tax lien and 4 collections completely deleted????

Your score is driven by the most recent and most severe derogatory. If you still have something major on your reports, that's what is driving your scores.

Re: Scoring nightmare..what's going on?????

Yes that is what one would think. That is why I am baffled. The more recent and worst derogatory information is completely gone (Some of these were not mine to begin with so I had them removed). So what gives?????? MYFICO tried giving  me the brush off by saying the average age acct. history changed It did not ! It stayed exactly the same 9 years 1 month. So now they are going to reexamine it (I literally am running out of time). This error could cost me $40,000.
Can anyone figure out what may be going on?

Re: Scoring nightmare..what's going on?????

I am also stuck at one score from EQ.  I don't know what it takes to move their score.  Evidently they hold bad things against you more than TU and EX. My score has not changed in almost a year now.

It's incredible considering how much power they have over our lives.

I feel for you and hope you get somewhere with them.Smiley Tongue

It sounds like you're still hit by the collections, even if they are older than the deleted ones.

You're in the collections bucket, and that dictates your potential score range.

Your average account age changes monthly. When is the 9y 1m from?
