Not sure if this is the appropriate board for this, but also didn't think it belonged on the Student Loan one, so mods please move if necessary....
I have 5 lates on my 6 student loans from 9/2017 to 1/2018. None since then. Up until last week, these reflected exactly the same across all 3 bureau's (I pull all 3 reports monthly). Now when I check, they're off both TU and Equifax, but not Experian. It appears that the reporting time frame changed, rather than the lates being deleted. They repot as follows:
EX - Oldest date is 1/2017, 5 lates (1 90, 4 120's) last updated 7/31/2022, report status: Current, was past due 180 days or more.
TU - Oldest date is 1/2018, no lates, last updated 7/31/2022, report status: Paid or paying as agreed
EQ - Oldest date is 1/2018, no lates, last updated 6/30/2022, report status: Paid or paying as agreed
I haven't gotten any kind of score bump on TU or EQ, so I'm not sure if this is accurate and permanent or not. I've always been under the impression the lates will stay on for at least 7 years, but wondering if this has anything to do with the upcoming decision on the Student Loan pause next week. I plan to restart my payments when/if necessary but I just can't wrap my head around why this would change. I thought it was just a weird CK glitch when I checked last week but it's reflecting across the reports I pulled from Experian as well.
I can't think of any other factors that have changed. I've been in forbearance since the COVID pause, my loans were moved to Nelnet months ago, and I just recently called in to confirm if I had made payments before COVID since I honestly couldn't remember and they confirmed I was not in default in 3/2020.
Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas as to what I can expect going forward? It's all pretty strange.
Thanks!
I know you mentioned the credit reporting agencies, but where are you looking at your credit reports? I ask because if I look at Credit Karma, it has the last two years and my payment history for my student loans is 100%. However, if you go to each individual's actual website it shows my one late from November 2015 when I was re-certifying (it should be falling off soon though because seven years) and counts them towards my late payments.

I got them from Experian's site. If you sign up for their "credit works premium" or whatever it is, you can access all 3 scores and reports and then cancel before the free trial is up in a week. That's how I found them.
FWIW, both EQ and TU are showing the same exact info on Credit Karma.
I had a similar experience in September 2020 when 30 student loan lates disappeared off EX for no reason. DQ age ranges from 4 yrs 8 months to 6 years 4 months (multiple loans, multiple creditors). Unfortunately they didn't vanish off the other reports and I had to ride them out to the full term (which was two days ago).
I never got an explanation for why they dropped, and since I still had my foreclosure on record, my EX score didn't change, either. The best I can tell you is that sometimes it happens. I was also very hesitant to poke the bear and try to dispute/early removal from the other CRAs in fear that Experian would notice the mistake and replace them.
Congrats on them disappearing, though! I hope they were the youngest and you got some time shaved off your rebuild!
