Re: Think before you correct errors...

The "120 days" was the only one that I had, so I believe I was rebucketed. I do have a couple of collections that are a few years old. They are old medical bills. I have since paid them, but that hasn't been reflected on my report yet.

I know that it stays on my report for 7 years, but if I pay a collection, does that help my score?

You have collection accounts. You were not rebucketed.

Paying collection accounts does not improve your FICO scores. Paid collection accounts are still baddies. Research the HIPPA process for having paid medical collections removed from your CBR's. Removing the collections will improve your FICO's and when the last baddie is removed there will be a large improvement.

Baddies: PR's (BK, liens, judgments, foreclosures), CO's, CA's (paid and unpaid), 90-day+ lates. (I may have omitted something.)

The day my last baddie falls off I am throwing a party!
