Transunion bewilders me

After experiencing ID theft and cleaning it up, I've grown tired of having to deal with the credit reporting agencies. That said, I'd really appreciate info about how Transunion runs fico management and scoring. My TU fico score chart looks like the stock market. It's all over the place and I have yet to figure out why. 1) While they routinely update my score, they're up to 11 months behind on everything else ie. current open accts, inquiries. 2) 6 wks ago, for some reason that escapes me, TU dropped my score 17 pts, without having updated my history. Then, 5 wks later, they bumped my score up 20 pts. This continues to happen about once every 4-6 wks. Equifax and Experian are fairly steady with 5-6 pt fluctuations and my info with them is up to date.

Lastly, Transunion -always- reflects a score substantially lower than the others and they are prohibitively slow at updating my credit info, if they do it at all. I'm still waiting for a cc I started using in Jan to appear at TU. It's reflected on my Eq & Ex credit info.

How can Transunion provide an accurate score without having current information -and- why does my score jump around so much when nothing on my credit report has changed? I've tried dealing with them, but it's impossible. Eq 756 Ex 743 TU 707

Thank you for wading through this post.

Re: Transunion bewilders me

Sorry to hear about the ID theft OP. That does create real challenges.

When the TU score is at a low point, have you pulled your credit reports from TU and another, to see what may be a negative on TU, something reported to TU not on the others?

Are you contacting TU with proposed changes or any disputes about info in your file? Are there any past disputes or requests you have with them?

Re: Transunion bewilders me

NRB525 is correct above in referencing your TU credit report here.

OP, your gripe isn't with TU, as TU isn't in control of your score itself.  If your TU score is acting like a yo-yo, it means your TU CR data is fluctuating often.  Your job really is to determine what exactly is changing... maybe it's the same thing being added/removed, or maybe it's different things if the score changes you are seeing aren't consistent.  I would research that a little bit first before being upset with TU.  Almost everyone by definition has a score that's lower than their other 2, sometimes a good bit lower, but that doesn't always mean there's an issue related to the bureau with which one possesses their lowest score.
