When does Bad Payment History become Not Good Payment History?

Does it take months or years?

Re: When does Bad Payment History become Not Good Payment History?

For some yes. For others it can literally take only hours. Rectification of the cause will immediately have an effect.

For instance:

If I were to have missed several payments on my accounts and had a 'bad payment history' message, and I were to be able to GW all of the accounts, then in theory FICO would definitely move me up to 'Great Payment History' instantly.

If I did nothing about it and did not try for GW, then it could take up to 7 years to get to 'Great', all of course depending of how long ago the payment problem occurred.

If legit and not removed, they take years to reduce their impact, particulary for major derogs of 60+

Monthly creep is, from my experience, in the range of only 1-3 points as they age.

Payment history is rated at 35% of score, because it is deemed a prime indicator of risk.
