Tough times come and go. When it comes to fixing it. Things are crazy.
You can get a card with a hard pull to establish credit and get dinged. Or you can can get dinged and not get the card. Then if you apply for too many cards you get dinged for asking for cards. Then you get dinged and denined for asking for too many cards. Or you get dinged and denied for not having any cards.
Then with all said dings, it takes what, two years for a simple inquire to go away? 2 years!
I know it sounds like crying or complaing but thats what the companies want. For people to tell their peers its ok. Its the system.
Its just seems so conviluted yet simple enough like walking a tight wire over two skyscrapers and falling to your death
Ok, so I won't tell you it makes sense.
Rather, let's play a game where you, OP, are The Banker, responsible for making the Big Decisions about any loans for unsecured revolving credit that YOUR bank loans out. Part of the game is that your job is on the line if the people you don't know and choose to loan money to, if they don't pay the money back to the bank.
The question to you is:
How would you design a system to allow you to make a good decision to loan or not to loan to some of the 150,000,000 adults in the US, some significant portion of whom are either out to get your money with no intention of paying it back, or may decide later on, after taking the loan, that it's easier to not pay your bank back, or have no job in the first place with which to pay you back? And mixed in there are some good people who will pay you back, will do everything they can to pay you back.
Your bank does what, exactly?
