Wife used card bumped it to 76% not knowing...

My wife used a credit card by misake a couple months ago using it's utlization at 77%. The limit is $2,500 a small credit line. With the balance being $1,925.  Here is what I just did. I paid $1,250 on the card. Blance will now be $675.

Will this bump the credit score back up? If so, a ballpark number of how many points in the jump? I noticed that my score dropped and this is what triggered me to check things out.

Any how most appreciated!

No way to predict it without knowing balances and lines of all your other accounts, plus any derogs. There are too many variables to make a guess.

If you want head over to fico scoring. There are some gurus who might help but unless you are applying for a house or car i wouldnt sweat it, utilization has no memory and you'll be ok. Score should bounce backSmiley Happy

Remember these thresholds: 8.9%, 28.9%, 48.9%, 68.9%, 88.9%

Per threshold crossed:
+- 5 points for individual
+- 10-15 points for aggregate

Not knowing the complete picture, I'll gander a guess. You'll gain back at least 5 points but no more than 100 points. 😉

I have no negative credit all in good standing. Worst case I just paid down the balance and put the card up. Smiley Happy I'll update if the score bumps up a few points!  I have far to many credit cards and most paid off thank goodness.

Good to hear / read. Whatever points lost will be regained once utilization returns to prior or better.

We'll await your outcome.
