I keep trying to get my score to go up but get so frustrated with it. I know a lot is that I have some CC debt but I'm paying that down rapidly. I keep getting dinged for no mortgage or large installment loans. That's because I own my home and several cars ourtight! Will I over that? I prefer to not have a mortgage or loans.

Time + no credit applications = score increase. If you just stay the course, manage your accounts well, and keep your utilization down, your scores will go up.

You can have a FICO score over 800 without having an active installment loan, it's not required. Other positive factors such as AAoA, positive payment history, and good revolving utilization can be enough to bump your score into excellent range.

Sure, you can easily get well into the 800s without any kind of loan. I did. I haven't had a mortgage or car loan or any other kind of loan in decades, and my best score was 830. (It's lower than normal right now due to huge recent credit card use.)
Just ignore those silly denial reasons or reasons your score isn't higher, like 'no recent mortgage experience.' They have to put *something* so they put whatever seems closest. Just stay on track, use your cards, always pay on time and more than the minimum, refrain from having hard pulls and/or opening new accounts, and you're going to see your score improve over time.

"Time + no credit applications = score increase."
Truth.
Inquires are killing my scores. ![]()
Good reminder, they do go up over time... if we don't poke them.
