Yes, it may help a very small bit for as long as the installment account is open. Remember, though, that as long as an installment loan is open, you'll be paying interest on it.
Is it worth the inquiry? Probably not. That may hurt you more than the installment loan would help.
It is worth paying interest for and getting a loan you don't need? No.
