I was just wondering about the average age of account and your fico score. More specifically approximately at what average age do accounts begin to play a meaningful role in helping your fico score? I know a bunch of 6 month old accounts is not going to help much at all but trying to get an idea as to when the fico scoring system begins to consider age of accounts as a positive factor. 3 year average? 5 year? Seven or more years? The reason I ask is that I am seeing that when a lot of my negatives begin to drop off unfortunately so will the old accounts that have helped with the age of my credit history. Was curious as to at what age fico begins to look at age of account favorably and preparing for what to expect when some of these accounts start to drop thus lowering my AAoA.
There is no exact answer to your question as no one on these forums knows the formula. Anedotal evidence points to 2 years as the first good mark, then 4-5 years and 8 years plus. Once you have an AAoA thats over 8 years there really isnt any further Fico increases based just on AAoA.
