confusion with credit scores

Hello everyone,

Im new to the forum. I recently purchased my FICO scores TU 678 and EQ 681. I was also able to get a free credit report through Credit Notify which reported my scores at 658. I've never heard of Credit Notify and  question why the 20pt difference between this score and the others.

Has anyone every heard of Credit Notify?  Is a litgitamate reporting bureau?

Thanks,

April

Re: confusion with credit scores

Since right now the only known places ( besides a lender pulling them for you) to get REAL FICO scores is through this site, direct from Equifax's website & from transunioncs.com; I'd have to say that is a fake or FAKO score as we say. FAKO scores are often way off & because they dont know the real formula that is used to create a FICO. They only can make a good guess at what your score is according to their made up formula.

Re: confusion with credit scores

That other score is a FAKO.

There are many different credit scores floating around, but the only useful ones are FICO's. You can get EQ and TU here at the myFICO site. (Be sure to google FICO discount code first.) EX bugged out back on February 13, and now you can't get an EX FICO anywhere.

You can also get your EQ FICO from the Equifax site. You can get your TU FICO from www.transunioncs.com. (Note the cs.)

All other scores --those sold by TU and EX from their sites, and those sold by credit monitoring services like TrueCredit, PrivacyMatters, free-credit-report-dot-com, and so forth, are what we call FAKO's. They are created by a different formula than FICO's; they don't track your FICO scores; and they aren't used by lenders.
* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?
FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007

Re: confusion with credit scores

Thanks for clarifing the difference between the scores received from this site vs. those received from credit notify. It is nice to know that lenders are looking at the scores provided by myfico.com.
