credit report - payment history length

I just got the triple advantage report from freecreditreport.com.... and I have a question.

I thought that late payments etc stayed on my credit report for 7 years, but the report from each bureau only shows a 24-month payment history (which is all "green/OK"), and while things have been great during that time period I am SURE I have missed a payment or two in a 7-year period.

So why can't I see the whole 7 years?  And if I can't, would an agency/lender that ran a check on me see the WHOLE payment history or just the 24 months??  The 24 months look great, I just wanted to know about before.

Thanks, this is only the second time I have looked at my report, so forgive me if these are stupid questions.

Re: credit report - payment history length

Despited being owned by Experian, freecreditreport (FCR) is a third-party CR provider and these won't show the full 7-yr history. Other providers like via myFICO or TrueCredit will show a summary of the past 7 yrs, but also won't show the detail for every late.

You'd need to pull your CR directly from EX to see that history. You can get your EX report for free though via FCR. Go into the account to view your current CR. Click the "dispute" button. Now don't dispute, but initializing this link will provide you with a free copy of your EX report with the entire 7-yr history. You'd also see other items not on FCR like detailed history, soft inquiries, more contact info or personal history, baddie drop off dates, and so on.

I agree with llecs.  The commercial CRs you get are not a full summary of your credit file.

If you have not done so within the last year, I suggest you order a complete, free, and non-commercial copy of your credit report from annualcreditreport.com.  This site was created under the provisions of the FCRA that entitles consumers to one free credit report from each CRA once a year.  No fee, no hassle, and it is the best credit report you will get.
