wife doesn't have a credit score

I added her as an authorized user 1 year ago on my macys, cap one and citi bank. My balance on those cards combined is around 7,000.

around a month ago, i was able to get her a cap one on her own and a credit one. She is new to this country.

Credit one has a credit score on their website whenever you log in. They assigned her a score of 642 and said it was because of high balances, 7,000. I'm guessing they are using the balance of my credit cards, which she is an authorized user of, against her?

When i tried to pull a credit report on my fico, it says her credit is too new and it can't pull a report or assign a score.

Should i remove her as authorized users on my accounts?

Re: wife doesn't have a credit score

No. Atleast not at this time. Her being AU boosts her available credit.

To generate a credit score she needs to have an account where she is the primary card holder. The account must be active for 6 months before Fico will score her profile.

Re: wife doesn't have a credit score

If you can, get her on your car loan and refinance existing car loan to do it.    Did this with my ExW.     I went the other way, got her on my car loan first and then after 6 months she started getting CC offers lol.

Re: wife doesn't have a credit score

Fico does not look at AU account balances when considering utilization on Fico 8 and later models. The AU CLs are included in total available credit but, again those CLs are not part of an aggregate utilization.

By contrast, VantageScore 3.0 does treat AU accounts same as primary cardholder accounts. Not sure if VS changed anything relative to AU  accounts with 4.0.

It is true VantageScore does not have the same criteria or scoring a new to credit profile as Fico. With VS all you need is an AU account being reported and be at least 18 years of age.
