I got an alert of a new inquiry that I did not make. It might have been one of the soft ones that banks do to see if they want to send you a credit card invitation, or it might have been a hard inquiry that means fraud. Is there a way to tell from the myFICO alert what kind of inquiry it was? The words hard or soft did not show up, but maybe there is another way to tell?

MF only shows HP's and not soft. If you are curious and know what CRA it was you can use annualcreditreport.com and pull report. That will report will show HP's and also promotional, account reviews which are known as SP's. HP=Hard pull, SP=Soft pull. Likely the best way to see what is going on. If inquiry is showing up on FCI monitoring/credit report then it is a HP.
