Website security - MODS please read

Wanted to bring up a point regarding posting on this board, and while I do post, I sometimes am a bit hesitant to do so.  The reason I say I am hesitant is because to me, this board should be secure/encrypted - ie. https.

I realize that no one posts SS numbers, or CC numbers, and the message board does not accept payment of any type, but the reality of it is that we don't know who is lurking, reading our posts, and perhaps compiling information -  not to mention, any John/Jane Doe can browse this board without registration.  I am sure 99.99% of folks out there would never even attempt to compromise the security of this site, or its patrons.

Perhaps I am over-reacting a bit, and perhaps there is a reason why this board is unsecured - which, by the way is pretty standard for message boards, but I feel that this board is not your typical message board.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.  Do with it what you will.

Interesting point! I realized a long time ago that if anyone suspected that I was on this board, they could eventually figure out who I am.

I'd like to see a message when people first register and create screen names that would discourage them from using their last names, their DOB's, their zip codes, and so forth. I don't think that someone could figure out their identity from scratch, but again, if someone suspected these members were here, it would be pretty easy to figure it out from these names.

I have to do a lot of editing out when members post e-mails etc that contain their real names!

HTTPS
Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer

HTTPS is used only to encrypt data enroute between your computer and the webserver you are communicating with-

As the data is displayed unencrypted at myFICO there is no need to waste the computing CPU power on this website or your machine to accomplish this.

I do agree with being prudent in the use of personally identifiable data. As with HTSU if someone knows I am a member here they could easily figure out who I am IRL.

This just goes to show that I should be more careful with what I post.
