I just want to make sure I understand. So when you cancelled the service (SW, FQM, whichever it may be) it didn't bother you that you lost access to the pieces specific to the service, but it was just the reports and scores (which it's very likely were old and you'd already paid for) going away also that made it tough.
Thanks!

Yes, the scores/reports that I had purchased seperately while I also had been a member of the servies were taken away the moment I cancelled the service. Some were old, some were not at all..regardless, it had history there that I needed and since I had not printed them out (because the dates on the side told me they'd still be available until x/x/09, etc.) I lost everything I needed.
As a software engineer I understand that this is more of a bizdev block than a technical block but --
The biggest boost to myFICO would be to offer a 'scorewatch ultra super plus' or something that would offer daily pulls of your 3 credit reports and your FICO score.
Overall I think your site is already great for the average consumer looking to help and monitor their credit.
Couple things you could do that would set your site apart from others (from a Consumerist standpoint)
- Let people cancel on the website. You can still pull your 'we'll give you some discount for some period of time' thing, just do it via the website. I think that this will give the consumer more confidence about ever potentially returning -- you don't want someone's last memory of myFICO to be calling to cancel when the center is not open, getting hassled by someone. Be different from every other credit monitoring site out there and empower the consumer to make their own decisions when they want to make them.
- Streamline the reports for your most active users. Give an optional 'expert' view of the fico score, what's hurting / helping, what fico high achievers do, and full account history in an extremely simple minimally-graphical single page. The current printable view is not what I have in mind.
Look -- myFICO has developed a very good brand reputation. It's by far the most highly reccommended credit site out there, and the users love spending time on your site helping other people improve their credit and understanding of the credit process.
I don't think any of your users Want to use CreditCheck Total, TrueCredit, CreditSecure, etc to get their credit reports.. they're just forced to right now because myFICO doesn't offer a comparable service. I think your community wants to do everything at myFICO, and they are willing to pay a premium for it. That's what brand is. It's now just up to you to actually offer the service and make it the best experience possible.
Thanks woopah,
That's a good suggestion, I will add that to the list for consideration.
The short answer is it's a little tricky (though certainly possible) because the web servers for the site itself are different than the web servers for the forums, so we need to pass the fact you're logged in back-and-forth for the my purchases link to show up on the forums.

Somebody said that they only want to see the scores. I like seeing the whole report online after I've purchased it for a whole year, even though the score changes.
I'd like to see the format of the way the account page is presented, such that the accounts with the most recent and frequent activity is shown first in a "top" section and a delineation line followed by reporting of accounts that have been paid off or closed listed on the bottom half of the page. I don't know if that's a website presentation issue, or if the formatting of the order of the credit products comes from the credit bureaus that way. Another thing is that when there is a credit line availabilty at the time of the printing, I'd like to see the dollar amount of each credit product's credit line. After the delineation of "active" vs. "inactive/closed" accounts, I'd like to have the credit types "grouped by type"; i.e. mortgage, car loan, college loans grouped together; lines of credit like home equity or overdraft grouped together; then credit cards or other revolving types of credit grouped together. Surely, the credit bureaus don't weigh each type of credit product equally.
I'd like to know how I compare on how many credit products I have per grouping as compared to the average American. I have 43 to 50 "accounts" according to the three reporting agencies, but 3 to 5 are active. Since each credit product grouping must weigh differently (a mortgage vs. a store credit card), how do I compare per grouping vs. the average consumer? Can you list that on your reports? I know that on the snapshot page, that it says that the best consumers use only 1% to 9% utilization, but I can't see that on the one page printout of the accounts. I'd still have to resort to pulling out my latest statement for each card and a calculator. Just a thought.
I know you don't accept advertisements for non-FICO products, but it's difficult pulling information about what the best type of credit card is for a college student, for example. I'll have to click on over to Bankrate.com to see what they have to say about that. Would it be unethical for you to have a comparison of credit cards, like a Consumer Reports profile of the latest credit cards and their associated fees or necessary credit scores to get those cards?
Not to open another can of worms, but in your Credit Education section, I'd like to see the latest marketing ploys to watch out for from credit vendors in terms of fees or interest rate hikes or shortening the days of the months, or whatever the latest ploy is to stick it to consumers so that they can find themselves late or paying unusual fees.
Thanks.
I also support the idea of having our credit scores and other information saved on our profiles and to have some comparison charts/statistics with the next products purchases.
For example, when I purchased the full report, I saw where I am doing good and where I need an improvement. However, this information is not available on my profile now. It will be nice when I purchase a new full report to see the report itself, BUT also to see a comparison with my previous one.
It would be helpful to have access to previous reports. If storage is an issue, perhaps you could store the last 3 or 4 runs, not necessarily a year or whatever. At a minimum, I would be really nice to see the scores.
I don't have the problem someone else stated about going from forum to the rest of the site and having to log back in, once I am logged in, I am logged in. Where I do have a problem is logging in and posting on the forum when I have accessed it from my email.
Would also like to see some discount for purchasing all three reports or even pay a higher monthly fee to be able to get all three say 4 times a year...of course, that might already be offerred, should have checked before I posted.
Generally I love the site...think its great. I have learned so much from this site.
