I just ordered the TU monitoring through myFICO and had a question. I got my TU report yesterday and on page 2, which is the "understanding your credit" part of my credit profile it says that a bad thing hurting my TU score is that my most recent late payment was 2 months ago. Well, I looked through my entire report, all opened and closed accounts, and none on my report are showing a late payment from 2 months ago.
My most recent late payment was 2 years ago. I also purchased the Equifax monitoring through myFICO and on that same page, it is showing correctly.
So, I guess my question is, should I be contacting TU to find out why it is saying I have a late payment from 2 months ago, or would this issue be handled by myFICO and will it increase my score? Has anyone else come across anything like this? I've pasted what it say below. Thank you for your time and help.
You recently missed a payment or had a derogatory indicator reported on your credit report.

If you missed a payment, your FICO score evaluates how recently that missed payment occurred. In general, the more recent the missed payment, the more impact it has on your score. In your case, your last missed payment happened recently.
What to do about this: If the late payment on your credit report is valid, you should focus on continually paying all your bills on time. This will demonstrate a good payment history so that your last missed payment will have less of an impact on your score as time passes.
Looking at your TU report in the Accounts section, do you have any collections (ETA: COs or CAs) reporting in there? If so, look at the "status as of" and "date of last activity" fields. See if one didn't update in May (assuming you pulled this TU report this month).

Thank you for the feedback. I did pull the TU report on 07/07/2010. I looked back through all of the dates and the only lates that I have for any accounts is Oct, Nov, Dec of 2008 and then March 2009. Everything else on all other accounts show as okay and show as no lates as this was the only account I had issues with. I do not have any collections or anything. I had a bankruptcy that was filed in October 2008 and discharged in January 2009. So, the only thing that I can think of is that the report is mixing up the years or something? I looked back at my TU report that I pulled on 01/28/2010 and it showed that I was late on a payment 0 months ago, but again looking through that report, the only lates showing are the ones listed above. I am just not sure how to go about correcting this and/or to know if this is actually making a difference in my score. Any additional thoughts or advice? I am baffled at this point.
Okay, looking more closely at my credit report, I have pasted below what I think the problem is. The only account that had anything reporting in May 2010 is Chase. I also looked at my credit report from January 2010 and Chase also had a report from January of 2010. I guess what is the best way to go about correcting this? It is correct on my Equifax where the last report was in October 2009 when I filed for bankruptcy. So, should I contact TU and dispute this and say that this account show be listed as "included in bankruptcy" for the status? It says it in the notes, but not in the status. Also, for any accounts that say "unrated" as the status (like this one does), should I contact TU and tell them it should say "included in bankruptcy"? On my Equifax report, all of my status say "Included in bankruptcy". any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks! -- i cannot get the colums to lign up, but the corresponding column headings go with the corresponding dates listed below all of the headings.

The Worst Delinquency reports the worst missed payment status that has been documented on this account. Your FICO® score evaluates how recently that missed payment occurred and in general, the more recent, the more impact it has on your score. However, the fact that it occurred is still predictive of future payment risk and could be considered by your FICO® score. |
