The date your first card is approved becomes the approval date for all further cards. Helps AAofA for sure.

I had my card for 4 months and asked for a 50% increase from 10-15. The button was still visible after that but for the past 2 months it does not appear. If i was you I would go for an increase if you are using the card a lot and if your income supports a higher limit. Don't be shy.

What they need to figure out is how to recode inquiries for insurance utilities and the like. Hard unquiries that are counted against your score should be limited to mortgages home equity loans personal lines of credit and credit cards. Not sure what I think about student loans. I also do not think that you should be penalized for a new inquiry or a new account when a new mortgage gets sold.

That would be my first thought. Maybe 20 points or so in an extreme case but 50 points is not possible. My oldest lost 20 points for 2 inquiries and a new account reporting with a significant loss of average age. 50 points for even 4 separate/different credit application inqs is not possible.

Well at least until my AMEX turns 1 next month. For my report anyway they seem to want 1 account with a balance. I lose a couple of points for 2 and 9 more for 3 with a balance. No further penalty for allowing 4 balances.

If you get the form you can count on a hard inquiry if you fill it out. My son has the Platinum Select for 5 years limit is now just shy of 5K. Never got a CLI. The CLI request button under Tools yielded the form the other day. Some accounts might never be eligible for a hard free CLI.

Would you rather pay for the score or get it for free? Or is it a matter of principle? Cause if you want it evey month you can get it or you can fight the good fight and pay 15-20 bucks a pop. Me? I just joined PSECU and get it for nothing once a month.

Your choice. You will save money paying off the higher interest installment loans but it won't do anything for your score. Depending upon where you end up on your revolving utilization number of accounts with balances yada yada your score would improve by paying down credit card debt. Up to you.

They are looking at all visible inquiries not just the ones that FICO scores. Some lenders are more inquiry sensitive than others.

You can get your true Experian Fico score by joining PSECU but you need to have either a checking account or a credit card. It will cost you an Experian inquiry for membership. I am a member and the free score is great.

I would never buy a credit report to see soft inquiries. Like Marine said go to annual. Understand that Equifax will not show all your softs. TU is a little suspect too. The only report that will def show all your softs is Experian.

Yeah I think there is or at least there was a couple 2-3 years ago. I was automatically denied a CLI and called when I got the denial letter in the mail. I got the increase after I explained I needed a larger limit to really use the card.

I am in a difficult position trying to game this score. 4 of my 6 cards close anywhere between the 1st and 3rd each month. I never know how many cards are going to report a balance when they pull. I have been bouncing between 775-788 since I joined. Latest score is 777.
