Welcome! I would just spend some time reading this forum. Beside the "understanding FICO scoring" area, you may want to head over to the 'rebuilding your credit' area and just surf around. Acct settled 04/08 reporting as 180 late every month uncluding July 09. Initiated dispute with CRAs. CRAs removed account entirely. Pulled reports through myFico, account is gone but no change in score - really? or is there a lag? CRAs removed the account 24th. thx

Hmm.....I actually read this to mean that they are offering a type of "overdraft" for your credit line, not actually an increase in the line. I think this would actually be very convenient, especially if your had a lower CL to start with.

It doesn't sound like your social security number is attached to the business card......but rather your employers tax ID number is, so my guess is that Amex wouldn't connect it to your filing.

Yep - happens all the time. Unfortunately it usually happens before we discover this forum & realize that a BK is a BK and FICO doesn't care that it was withdrawn and the debts paid. My mortgage reports as derogatory due to bankruptcy every month even though there has never been a single late payment on it ever...........aaah good times. ...and welcome to the boards, they will help keep you sane!

I settled a CC last year for less than the total amount owed. The OC continues to report this as 120 late each month. Now I am trying to refinance my mortgage & the broker is telling me that I can't have any lates for the past 12 months & that the creditor that I settled with should be reporting this way...........is that correct? I was under the impression that a creditor could continue to report an account as late for the entire 7 years, even if it had been settled, but I would love tol find out that this wasn't the case........help

I'm confused - are we mixing Target Visas and Target Store Cards? I've never heard of a Target Store card with a CL of more than $1000.......... don't they usually just convert their Store Card holders to Target Visa?

I have had a similar experience to Krielly. NCM never late - business failure forced filing of BK. BK withdrawn & debts settled, NCM still reporting as IIB and shows up as a derog.

I read it in a book called 'Best Credit' by Dana Neal. It sounds like an interesting way to lessen the impact of a derogatory account (if you can't get it removed) ........ if it would really work - but i've never heard anything like this mentioned on these boards.

A quick question ...... would a company actually put an account into CO, if they were still working it through a collection agency? I'm just suspicious that this is actually a junk-debt buyer. Does anyone know how this works?

I recently read that if you have already settled an account, and have a chargeoff on your credit, you may be able to negociate with the OC report the account as 'unrated'. Would this be beneficial? Thoughts?

nice.......I got a form letter response outlining the dispute process and indicating that I need to have a copy of my CR from TU. I'm assuming that the copy I pulled here will suffice given that it has a file number on the bottom. This kind of stuff is just maddening.

I recently settled a couple of COs & was looking forward to getting a slight bump due to the utilization going down. I pulled a TU this morning & the balances on those accounts report as $0, yet the explanation of my score says that the total balances on all of your accounts that are past due is $114730. Nothing is past due, can someone please explain this to me? thanks

Have you asked to speak with the person at Wells Fargo who is responsible for how they report your information to the CRA? I would start there and explain that your mortgage wasn't included in the bankruptcy.

Okay, here's another ScoreWatch suggestion: During the free trial, you should get one to try. When you actually decide that you like the service & subscribe, you should have your two reports made available. I burned the two free ones trying out the service & the expected that when I actually paid, it would reset. Imagine my surprise when I found out I paid $89 and got no reports. Customer servive did end up crediting me a report ...... but this is kind of silly in my opinion.

Yes, I can see that. It's just frustrating to me that credit scores have become the be-all and end-all of lending, instead of simply one facet of the larger picture (Like old-school manual underwriting).
